HEATHER: ON THE JOYS & CHALLENGES OF DOWN SYNDROME + ADVOCATING FOR YOUR CHILDREN + ACCEPTANCE

I had already learned so much from author, Heather Avis, even before we had a chance to chat. Her books “The Lucky Few” and “Scoot Over & Make Some Room” have been such great additions to my personal library and just taking in her perspective on inclusion, acceptance, and advocacy has been such a gift. It was SUCH a joy to chat with Heather on this week’s episode and I know you’ll love listening in.

  • The intro song, The Source, is brought to you by one of the best new worship bands out there, The Evidence. Yes, the frontman is my (talented, brilliant, adorable, Jesus-loving) cousin. No, that's not why I love them.

  • Heather has authored two books that I think you NEED to have - The Lucky Few (which I cried through nearly its entirety) and Scoot Over and Make Some Room.

  • Dry by Augusten Burroughs is Heather’s current read.

  • If you haven’t already, you really need to add The Lucky Few Podcast to your subscription list and start listening! Heather and two other mamas are shifting the narrative by shouting the worth of people with Down syndrome and it is a message we all need to hear!
